
Mrs. Marion Moore Becnel, 96, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 4, 2007, at Lafayette General Hospital, Lafay- ette. Visitation at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 2250 Main St., Baton Rouge, on Monday, May 7, from noon until funeral Mass at 1:30 p.m., with the Rev. Donald Blanchard, celebrant. Burial in Roselawn Cemetery. Mrs. Becnel was bom in Houma on April 10, 1911, and reared in New Roads. She was a former resident of Baton Rouge for more than 40 years and a resident of Lafayette. She graduated from high school in New Roads and received a nursing degree from Hotel Dieu School of Nursing, New Orleans, in 1932. She was a devoted volunteer at the Women's and Children's Hospital during her 25 years in Lafayette. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include two sons, Charles Lionel Jr. and wife Linda of Baton Rouge and Marion Oliver of Lake City, Fla.; and three grandchildren and their spouses, Mark and Denise Becnel and Michael and Kelli Becnel, all of Lafayette, and Alison Becnel Ives and Jack Ives of Orlando, Fla. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, Lauren, AshIey and Ben Becnel, Chad and Steele Becnel and Jeannine, Erika, Brittany, Cameron and Cole Ives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lionel Becnel Sr.; an infant son; mother and father, Marie Dumiot Moore and Weatherford B. Moore; and infant brother, Roy John Moore. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Thomas More High School, 450 E. Farrel Road, Lafayette, LA 70508. Rabenhorst Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
