Psalm 95: 2
Our family is so grateful for our wonderful mother and grandmother, our precious "Honey". She was a blessing to everyone that she met. “Anne” was born on May 6, 1934 to Roland Joseph Mestayer and Alice Elliott Mestayer in New Orleans, LA. She grew up in a loving, happy home along with her three siblings, Henry, Leea, and Roland. After nearly 60 years in Baton Rouge, she still told people that she was from New Orleans.
Anne graduated from Dominican College with a degree in Dietetics. She had been working as a Dietician at Charity Hospital when a young surgical resident spotted her and after a bit of investigation, Louis Parkerson “Parky” Laville, Jr. swapped patients with another doctor as a way to meet Anne. After a whirlwind romance, Anne and Parky married October 4, 1958. They were married for 34 years before Parky’s death in 1992. They were blessed with 5 children. Together they created a love filled home!
Anne generously nurtured her immediate and extended family, as well as anyone she found in need! She was devoted to raising her 5 children in a busy, lively household. She was active in the Baton Rouge community serving as an officer of numerous philanthropic and social clubs including groups such as The Baton Rouge Medical Auxiliary, The Baton Rouge Junior League, Morning Callers, La Tertulia, Charity Ball Association (The Ball de Noel) and others.
Anne’s Catholic faith was the priority in her life. She was involved in many ways to help promote her church including diligently restoring dollhouses for the church auction. Anne had a devotion to Our Blessed Mother and would often organize rosary rallies. Her love of Christ and His mother, Mary, formed the foundation of her family life.
Anne loved to relax and laugh with friends and family at her favorite place, her home in Bay St. Louis, MS. where many treasured memories were made playing cards and having morning coffee on the porch under her beloved Oaks. Anne was a bit of prankster and joker, always finding a polite way to say exactly what she thought!
Her parents, Roland and Alice Mestayer, her two brothers, Roland Mestayer and Henry “Bobby” Mestayer and her beloved husband, Louis Parkerson Laville, Jr, preceded Anne in death. She is survived by her sister, Leea Mestayer Pittenger, her five children Marjorie “Anne” Laville Meijer (Mark), Louis Parkerson “Parky” Laville (Maxie), John Henry “Duke” Laville (Laurie), Mary Alice Laville Weller (Neal) and Thomas Francis (Ursula), and her 21 grandchildren!
We will gather to celebrate our Honey on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at St. Agnes Catholic Church at 10:00 for visitation followed by a 12:00 funeral mass with interment following at Resthaven Gardens of Memory 11817 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge LA 70816.
