

Mary Katherine Dier, age 82, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 19th, 2026, surrounded by family at the home of her son, Darren, in Watson, Louisiana. She was born on July 4, 1943, in Napoleonville, LA, and spent more than fifty years in Baker, Louisiana, where she and husband, Earl D. Dier, built a faithful, loving home for their family.
Mary graduated from Redemptorist Catholic High School in Baton Rouge and later became a familiar and beloved presence at the iconic Baton Rouge restaurant Giamanco's, where she served customers with warmth and dedication for more than two decades. Her kindness, consistency, and welcoming spirit made her a favorite among regulars and coworkers alike.
Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She supported Earl through his service in the United States Coast Guard and his long career with the Baton Rouge Fire Department, all while creating a home defined by steadiness, faith, and love. To her family, she was the quiet anchor who held generations together.
Mary is survived by her son, Darren Dier, and his wife Deanna, with whom she resided in recent years; her grandsons Dustin, Keith, and Austin; and her great-grandchildren Savannah, Landon, Jackson, and McKenzie. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Rushing, along with extended family and dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Earl Davis Dier; her brother Gerry Rushing; and her beloved aunt, Geralda Mildred Reddy, who played a significant and formative role in her upbringing. She is also preceded in death by her parents.
A Graveside service will be held at Greenoaks Memorial Park on Monday, February 23rd at 10am.
