Mary Martha Mayers Gillis

Gillis,  Mary Martha MayersMartha was a homemaker, a native of St. Gabriel and a resident of Baton Rouge. She died at 8:05am Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at Fidelis Care Group of Denham Springs. Martha was 94. Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church on Monday, July 06, 2015, from 9:00am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Martha is survived by four daughters: Zita Prater&husband Huey of Dallas, Texas, Elaine T. Gillis of Hammond, Dot Baudry of Baton Rouge, and Susan Hutchinson&husband Steve of Baton Rouge; two sons: Pat Gillis&Jewel Klusman of Prairieville and John Gillis&wife Gwen of Baton Rouge; one sister: Elsie Ray Castello of Ethel; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law&wife of Michael: June Gillis; and numerous nieces&nephews. Martha was preceded in death by her husband: Eusebe J. Gillis; parents: Camille&Hannis Young Mayers; daughter: Hilda G. Killian; three sons: Michael Gillis and two infant sons; two sisters: Bertha "Pitt" Cooper and Theresa Arnold; three brothers: Kenneth Mayers, Roy Mayers and Feltus Mayers; son-in-law: Gary Killian. Martha was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Mercy School or favorite charity of choice. Rabenhorst Funeral Home East is in charge of arrangements.
