Born June 18th, 1942, Elaine was the daughter of the late Danton and Hazel Richardson. In 1961, she married Robert “Gus” Gosselin and they enjoyed sixty-two wonderful years of marriage together. She was the proud mother of Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Fox (Craig) of Denham Springs, Louisiana, and Gennifer Renee “Genny” Constant (Gil) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She reveled in her role as “Gigi” to her four cherished grandchildren: Daniel Stuart Fox, Emily Elizabeth Fox, Amanda Renee Constant, and Erin Clare Constant.
Elaine was raised in Washington Parish where she graduated from Franklinton High School. She then went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University where she was a member of Phi Mu Fraternity. After college, she taught Louisiana History at Zachary High School for several years. Then she went to work for the Louisiana Department of Labor, where she worked until her retirement in 2000.
A long-time resident of Baton Rouge, Elaine enjoyed staying involved in the community. She was an active member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church for over fifty years, a member of the Chancel Choir, United Methodist Women, and the Seekers Sunday School Class. She enjoyed many hobbies including playing bridge with friends, traveling the world, reading, and working on sudoku and crossword puzzles. She was a master quilter and a member of the Patchwork Pelicans Quilt Guild and the River City Quilt Guild. She was also a member of the Philanthropic Education Organization (PEO), and she maintained her affiliation with Phi Mu Fraternity as an active alumnus. Those fortunate enough to have enjoyed her hospitality remember her as an outstanding cook and gracious hostess.
At Elaine’s request, she will be cremated and her ashes will be scattered by her family. A Celebration of Life will be held at Broadmoor United Methodist Church on Saturday, June 22, 2024. Visitation starts at 9 am until service time at 10.
In lieu of flowers, Elaine’s family requests donations to be made to the organizations she supported during her lifetime: United Methodist Women at Broadmoor United Methodist Church, IRIS Domestic Violence Center (PO Box 52809, Baton Rouge, LA 70892) or Phi Mu Foundation (phimufoundation.org).
