
A devoted wife and beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, Oct. 25, 2006, at St. James Place, Baton Rouge, with her family at her bedside. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Friday, Oct. 27, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until service at 2 p.m. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Dr. Joe M. MacCurdy Sr.; and parents, Clayton Capers Moreland and Mamie Warner Moreland. Mary Frances is survived by her brother, Dr. Joe Moreland and his wife, Joyce, of Baton Rouge; sister, Faye Coco and her husband, Steve, of Jennings; daughter, Carol Ann MacCurdy and her husband, Tom Nuckols, of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; son, Bill MacCurdy and his wife, Robin, of Fairview, N.C.; son, Dale MacCurdy and his wife, Mary, of Slidell; and son, Joe MacCurdy Jr. and his wife, Theresa, of Nashville, Tenn., as well as eight grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and a great-grandchild. Mary Frances Moreland grew up in Baton Rougeand attendedBaton RougeHigh School. In the fall of 1942, she attended LSU, where she met and later married Joe M. MacCurdy in 1947. They were lifelong residents of Baton Rouge, where Mary Frances and Joe were members ofGoodwoodBaptistChurchand most recently,BroadmoorBaptistChurch. Always active in the community, she was president of the East Baton Rouge Parish Medical Auxiliary and the Junior League. She was co-editor of the first edition of "River Road Recipes." She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her love and devotion to her husband and her children are an inspiration to her family.
