Mary was born on November 4, 1934, in Port Allen, Louisiana to Marshall and Lydia Henry. Mary proudly graduated from Port Allen High School and Louisiana State University. She was a resident of Bryan for over 55 years loving Aggieland and working at Texas A&M University for 13 years of devoted service, eventually retiring in 1999. Mary was involved in the Catholic Church and continued to participate in the traditions in the later part of her life. Mary was awarded the Tradition of Excellence Staff Award by Texas A&M University in 1998 for her distinguished contributions through dedication, initiative attitude and outstanding achievements at the university. Mary loved to read mystery novels in her free time. Her daughter, Melissa Wiederhold said, “When I was a wife and mother with a family of my own, a special was preparing Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner together.” Courtney Wiederhold, granddaughter, remembers “I will always remember when she would visit us in Houston. My brother and I would wake up and immediately go to her room to play Scrabble or Sorry with her. We would laugh and play games for hours, and she would happily play with us.” Her grandson, Cameron Wiederhold, remembers “She would come over for Thanksgiving and Christmas! She would stay in our guest bedroom which was next door to my room. I would wake up early and go into the guest bedroom in the morning. We would play games together before she took her meds. She would bring a Ziploc gallon size bag of her meds.” Her loving nephew, David Henry stated “I remember when I was 4 and I got to spend my first summer with Aunt Mary and Uncle Chris. The first morning there I went and got my very first haircut then we went and bought me a swing set that got delivered the following Saturday. I was made to take a nap and when I woke up it was put together, and I got to play on it. I remember that I had to eat grits for breakfast, I hated grits. Every night before bed I got ice cream with Bosco on it. Uncle Chris made me a slingshot that I got to have for about an hour till Aunt Mary saw me shooting at the birds in the bird bath. She would take me swimming every day. We always went somewhere during the summer, either the Zoo in Houston or the Alamo. I got to spend every summer with her until we moved to Texas, we lived right across the street from her. She is the one responsible for all the good things about me. All her birthday cards always said love Mom, that’s how she felt about me, and that is how I felt about her.” Mary was preceded in death by her father, Marshall William Henry Sr; mother, Lydia Mary Lemoine Henry; sister, Bess Larkin; brother, Marshall William Henry Jr; sister, Winnie Edwards; brother, Ronald Henry; brother, Michael Henry; husband, Christopher H.
