
Mary Frances Spruill departed this life Friday, Oct. 20, 2006, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. She was born Jan. 18, 1943, a native of St. Josephand a longtime resident of Baton Rouge. She was a retired court reporter for the 19th Judicial District Court. Fran was a loving and generous daughter, mother, grandmother and friend to many. Her grace and warmth compelled all who knew her to love her. She is survived by her mother, Eavon F. Spruill; daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Dr. Robert V. Blanche Sr., grandsons, Vincent, Julian James, Ehren, Taylor and MacKenzie Blanche; and a granddaughter, Madison Blanche, all of Baton Rouge; sister, Jean Spruill and husband Benton Gupp of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; and numerous close friends all of whom she loved dearly and unconditionally. She was preceded in death by her father, James C. Spruill. Visitation at First Presbyterian Church on Monday, Oct. 23, from 9 a.m.until memorial service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Ernie Saik of St. Luke's Episcopal Church and the Rev. Dick Gates of First Presbyterian Church. Interment inRoselawnMemorial Park. Pallbearers will be Allen Freeman, Michael Falgoust, Kenny Ezell, Christopher Bevelo, M.S. Khan and Mackenzie Blanche. Honorary pallbearers are Ehren and Taylor Blanche. Sincere thanks to Dr. Deborah Abernathy, Dr. William Russell and Dr. Shaista Faruqui, Hospice of Baton Rouge, members of St. Luke's Episcopal Cancer Support Group and all who participated in her care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Baton Rouge, Cancer Services of Baton Rouge, St. Luke's Cancer Support Group or First Presbyterian Church.
