
A longtime resident of Baton Rouge, she passed away at 6:15 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet. She was born May 15, 1927, in Star City, Ark., and was reared in Delhi. For 62 years, she was married to her high school sweetheart, John B. Tyner. She was the happiest in her role of wife, mother and grandmother. Her family has always known that she was one of their greatest gifts. She enjoyed her church, Broadmoor United Methodist, and actively participated in many civic organizations. She valued her many years of togetherness with the Luncheon Group. She also loved to travel and will be deeply missed by family, friends and church community. Even though she became disabled the last nine years of her life, she was extremely independent and was a shining example of courage to all who met her. She is survived by her husband, John B. Tyner, of Baton Rouge; son, John M. Tyner and fiancée Holley Thompson; daughter, Patricia "Tatsy" Jeter and husband Tommy; grandchildren, Thomas Jeter, of Columbia, S.C., and Jennifer Jeter, of Birmingham, Ala.; sister, Anne Crow Williams and husband Wayne, of Forth Worth, Texas; sister-in-law, Elaine Smith Gust and husband Al, of McAllen, Texas; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Young, of Delhi. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Sunday, Oct. 28, was from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting resumes at Broadmoor United Methodist Church, 10230 Mollylea Drive, on Monday, Oct. 29, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Pallbearers will be Bob Nelson, Mark Cusamino, Jack Shoemaker, Bruce MacMorran, Michael Cockrell and Rob Fairly. Special thanks to the wonderful doctors who provided her with many years of loving care, Dr. Ed Vinci, Dr. Carl Luikart and Dr. Gerald Miletello. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Broadmoor United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
