

Mason was preceded in death by his parents, Mason Martin Watkins, Sr. and Barbara Camille Cooper Watkins; his daughter, Camille Cooper Watkins; and Trez Owen Watkins, the mother of his daughters. He is survived by his daughter, Cooper Watkins Martin, and her husband Jude; his cherished granddaughters, Harper Christine, Hadley Cooper, and Hannah Camille; his sisters, Julie Watkins and husband Paul Heim, and Annie Watkins; as well as four nieces, one nephew, and numerous great-nieces and nephews. All loved and adored him.
Mason attended Poe Elementary School, Lanier Junior High School, Lamar High School, and Northern Arizona University. During his school years, he excelled in athletics ,formed many lifelong friendships and was known for his undeniable charm. Mason pursued a long career in construction, working in Houston, Baton Rouge, and Surfside, Texas before retiring in 2014. In recent years, he returned to Baton Rouge to spend time with his daughter and granddaughters, treasuring the close bonds they shared.
Mason was a natural athlete and had a great love of the outdoors. He enjoyed rodeo bareback riding, hunting trips, snow skiing, crawfish boils, wind surfing, and cookouts with family and friends. He will be best remembered by his beautiful smile that would light up the room, his infectious laugh, and his love of the beach with a cold beer in hand.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date to honor Mason’s life.
