
Maureen Coakley Daniels, born Oct. 2, 1925, in Cork City, Ireland, died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012, in Baton Rouge. Her family immigrated to New York City where she was raised and educated in New York City Schools, and graduated from Cornell University and New York Hospital with a B.S. in nursing. She received a master's degree in education from LSU in Baton Rouge and a master's degree in nursing from LSU Medical Center in New Orleans. She retired from Our Lady of the Lake College following 30 years of service as a faculty member and dean of the School of Nursing. She was active in the Louisiana State Nursing Association and the National League for Nursing and chaired several committees in both organizations. She is survived by her husband, A.B. Daniels Jr.; three children and spouses, Tad and Debbie Daniels, of Florence, S.C, Erin Daniels Lambert, of Baton Rouge, and Troy and Kerry Bruhe, of Hammond; nine grandchildren, Timothy, Ashley and Sean Daniels, Paul and Elizabeth Lambert, Kristen, Kellye and Ben Bruhe, and Edward Briggs; and a great-grandchild, Ava Daniels. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
