
Maureen Grandjean, 85, a native of Fort Worth, Texas, and a resident of St. James Place in Baton Rouge, passed away Monday, Sept. 6, 2010. Maureen was an exceptionally beautiful, Christian woman who devoted her life to the care and well-being of her two beloved husbands, John Raymond "Jack" Clements and Burke Grandjean; her two sons, John Michael "Pete" Clements and Gary Steven Clements; and her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered by family and friends as a very independent and gracious Southern Lady. Maureen had many talents, which included painting, ceramics, competitive bowling, dollhouse construction, landscape and interior design and social golf and tennis. One of her proudest achievements was serving her country during World War II as a first-class machinist for the U.S. Navy. Maureen's guiding principle was, "Whatever you do in life, always do your best," a lesson learned from her mother. For all those who were privileged to know Maureen, she was admired for her sense of excellence. She was preceded in death by her mother, Minnie Eda Holloway Halbert Moon; her father, Jesse Halbert; her two husbands, John Raymond "Jack" Clements and Burke Grandjean; her two brothers, Jesse Odel Halbert and Gordon Bennett Moon Jr.; a sister, Betty Jo Moon Craig; her son, Gary Steven Clements; and her grandson, Stefhan Eugene Clements. She is survived by her son, John Michael "Pete" Clements and wife Astrid Roy Clements; five sisters, Mary Halbert Pope, Doris Halbert Boatman, Billie Halbert Shaw, Geraldine Moon Johnston and Charlene Moon Solitario; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Tiffany Clements Johannes, Angela Clements Ball, Cosima Margareté-Marie Clements, Andrew Michael Clements and Jessica Maureen Clements; and five great-grandchildren, McKenzie Heafner Ball, Myles Ashton Ball, Zoe Rose Johannes, Searra Rose Rimes and Hayden Cole Tankersley. Religious services will be at St. James Place on Saturday, Sept. 11, at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Baton Rouge, 9063 Siegen Lane, Suite A, Baton Rouge, LA 70810.
