M.D. Louis Oliver Jeansonne Iii

A loving husband and father and well-known local pediatrician, he died at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009. He was born Dec. 22, 1945, at Camp Gordon, Ga., and was 63. He loved spending time with his family and he cared for thousands of area children during his career. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Rose Mary D'Agostino Jeansonne; two sons, Dr. Louis Oliver Jeansonne IV and his wife, Lindsay Jeansonne, and Bryan Grant Jeansonne; sister, Sandra Jeansonne DaVico and husband Larry; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Angela and Tommy Guarino and Toni and C.J. Chenevert; nieces and nephews, Carmie Guarino Berry, Geri Guarino, Lisa Chenevert, Sam Chenevert, Kimberly Chenevert, Amy D'Agostino, Samuel D'Agostino Jr. and his wife, Cara; great-nieces and great-nephews, Joseph Berry and his wife, Lauren, Jamie Berry Purpera and her husband, Jeff, Jasen Berry, Kate Mechwart, Tori Chenevert and Isabella D'Agostino; and great-great-nephew and great-great-niece, Cruz Bridges and Gianna Purpera. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gloria and Dr. Louis Oliver Jeansonne Jr.; father-in-law, Sam F. D'Agostino; mother-in-law, Angie Romano D'Agostino; and brother-in-law, Samuel G. D'Agostino Sr. He was the founding partner of Associates in Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine and was in practice for more than 30 years. His partners were Drs. Rodger Elofson, Dana Fakouri and Brannon Perilloux. He was an assistant clinical professor of pediatrics for Tulane Medical School and an assistant clinical instructor of pediatrics for LSU Medical School. He was board-certified in pediatrics and was a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He was a member of the Capital Area Medical Society, Louisiana State Medical Society and American Medical Association. He was co-author of the book, "Practical Manual of Pediatrics," published in 1980. He was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church and was past president of the Our Lady of Mercy School Board. He graduated from Catholic High School in 1963, then attended the Tulane University School of Engineering, where he earned a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering in 1967, and a master's degree in chemical engineering in 1970. He graduated from Tulane University School of Medicine in 1972, and did his residency training at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. He served as a major in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, 101st Airborne Division, from 1975 to 1977, and earned an Army Commendation Medal. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Wednesday, Jan. 21, was from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 445 Marquette Ave., on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Michael Moroney and the Rev. Vic Messina, celebrants. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Pallbearers will be Joseph Berry, Jasen Berry, C.J. Chenevert, Sam Chenevert, Samuel D'Agostino Jr., and Tommy Guarino. Memorial donations may be made in his name to Tulane University School of Medicine, P.O.
