

A beloved son, father, businessman, artist and friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him met a senseless and tragic death Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at Davis Signs, where he worked with his mom since 1982. He was pronounced brain dead at Our Lady of the Lake by neurosurgeons, where he did not regain consciousness. Born December 12, 1962 at Touro Infirmary in New Orleans to Evelyn (Evy) and Wilfred (Bill) Wethington, Michael graduated in 1980 from Istrouma High, Baton Rouge where he played the saxophone and drums and attended LSU in engineering. He was employed as Piping Tech with Lowery-Lotel until 1982. He began painting water color/pen and ink during his high school years winning numerous awards at local galleries and the Gonzales Jambalaya Festival. He was a member of the Guild and the Gonzales Guild. Michael is survived by mother, Evy Davis; former spouse, Brambler (Bambi) Hodges Guidry; three handsome sons, Austin Michael, Evan, and Blake Wethington who now reside in Grand Chain, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his father, Wilfred Wethington; grandparents, Elmer and Lillie Wethington of Alton, Illinois; Francis Hayden and Edith Rivers of E. St. Louis, Ill. Michael was captain of Busch Pool League Team “The Whippersnappers” at JD’s in the 80s. He was an avid golfer, Saints and LSU fan. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Saturday, August 20, 2011 from 10am until a service celebrating his life will be held at 2pm. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Shane Humphreys, Chris Blanchard, Marco Matte, Michael Swain, Kris Neck and Michael Scott. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmie B., Jason and Chandler Davis, Chad Beard, David Murphy, Todd Toups, Clifton Cutrer, Damon Bordelon, David Williams, Jamie Chapman, Jeff Messina, Doug Pizzolato, Tommy Lott, and Keith Marino. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Michael’s honor to Davis Signs 2250 N. Foster Dr., Baton Rouge, LA 70806.
