

We are sad to announce the passing of our dear, sweet, Mindy Marie McGowan Bourgeois of Prairieville, La. She left her earthly dwelling peacefully at the Baton Rouge General ICU at the age of 63 on January 19th, 2024. She was surrounded by her loved ones after a short illness. She was born in Baton Rouge, La. on April 9th, 1960, she attended St. Gerard Elementary School and Redemptorist High School, graduating in 1978. She was a special volunteer for Sister Dulce Maria at Cypress Springs Prayer Center in Baton Rouge for well over a decade. Mindy was a loving daughter who took care of her mother in her latter years. She was an avid LSU sports fan, enjoyed fishing, boating, and golf carting in Grande Isle. She absolutely loved her fur baby, Kitty Kitty. She is survived by her loving fiancé, Mark Bertinot and family, siblings Mike (Diane) McGowan, Meg Fette, and Patty Williams, and numerous nieces and nephews who she loved and adored beyond words. Mindy was preceded in death by her parents Patrick L. and Helen J. McGowan, and brother-in-law Andy Fette. Services are set at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Prairieville on Saturday, January 27th from 9:30-11:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., conducted by Father Albert Blount. Internment will follow at a later date at Greenoaks Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Russell Simpson, David (D.W.) Williams, Gage Hoover, Matt Karr, Colby Bertinot, and Gabriel Tero. Special thanks to all of our family and friends who have supported us through this whole endeavor. Donations may be sent in her memory to The Multiple Sclerosis Society or Sister Dulce Maria.
