Nancy Lee Askew

Born on November 2, 1928, to Clyde and Lizzie Shehee in Kaufman, Texas. She lived a long and full life, passing just prior to her 97th birthday.

Nancy was married to Daniel Blake Askew for 70 wonderful years. He preceded her in death in March 2022. They were long-time residents of East Baton Rouge and Nancy expressed her love of dogs by founding Janan’s Dog Grooming Salon. She operated here for 30 years before her daughter took over and continues to run it today.

She is survived by her daughter Victoria Jane Cox and husband Tom Cox of Greenwell Springs, LA, grandson Anthony Cox and Margo Clark, and great-grandson Maverick Cox of Denver, Colorado.

When Nancy went home to meet the Lord she was with — her son Daniel Gene Askew, daughter-in-law Lori Askew, granddaughter Jacquelyn Askew McClenny, and her husband Levi McClenny, of Carlsbad, CA.

Nancy was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and dear friend to many. Her warmth, kindness, and grace touched all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Nancy’s favorite charity St. Jude’s Children Hospital, In Memory of Mrs. Nancy Lee Askew.

Graveside service to be held at Greenoaks Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at 2:00pm.
