
Nancy Devore Beasley Fillastre, a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away in her home on Wednesday, January 6, at the age of 69. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., Thursday January 7 from 5:00-8:00 p.m., and will continue Friday January 8, 10:00am until religious service follows at 1:00 p.m. The service at the funeral home chapel will be celebrated by Rev. Ken Carroll of Broadmoor United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. She is survived by four sons, Arthur "Artie" Paul Fillastre IV, Christophé Nöel Fillastre and wife, Robyn Stafford Fillastre, Doyle Sean Fillastre and wife, Michele DeWolf Fillastre, and André Frédéric Fillastre, all of Baton Rouge; five grandchildren, Christophé "C.J." N. Fillastre Jr., Cherie N. Fillastre, Chance D. Fillastre, Kaelin J. Fillastre, and Alannah M. Fillastre; all of Baton Rouge; brother and sister-in-law, Fred Wayne and Lolit Beasley of Clinton. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Arthur "Artie" Paul Fillastre Jr., by her father, Willie Fred Beasley; mother, Bobbie Cline Beasley; and grandchildren, Donna G. and Sean I. Fillastre. Nancy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family which included family vacations to Disney as well as cooking, painting, quilting, photography and editing computer graphics for publications. She was a graduate of Zachary High School class of 1964. She authored a cookbook, Mom's Kitchen: Lost and Found and was active in several community organizations which included serving as past President of the East Baton Rouge Association for Family and Community and founding President of the Magnolia Chapter of the Society of Decorative Painters. Also, she was a tax preparer for H&R Block and a Certified Etchall Instructor. Most recently, Nancy helped Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center establish an arts program for cancer survivors. Pallbearers are Lance Brown, Paul LeDoux, Christopher Lincoln, Christopher Claypool, Christophe Noel Fillastre Jr., and Chance DeWolf Fillastre. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center of Baton Rouge at 4950 Essen Lane, Baton Rouge, LA 70809.
