Nancy Elizabeth Meric Wilkinson, born September 25, 1946, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2021, surrounded by her family at home at the age of 74. She was a native of New Orleans and lived in Baton Rouge area for the last 54 years. She is survived by her 3 children: Renee Wilkinson McCarthy (John), Heidi Wilkinson Morgan (Joel) ,and Robert Carter Wilkinson, Jr.; her grandchildren: Avery Elizabeth Davis, Christopher Blake Davis, John Carter Davis, Caleb Riley Wilkinson, Caroline Marie McCarthy, Katie Elisabeth McCarthy; her loving companion Thomas Lomonte of 24 years and her beloved pet Chloe; her siblings: Ruth Rasch Meric, Robin Meric Riviere (George), Rene Pierre Meric, III (Candace) and Philip John Meric (Annette); and many adored nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her sister, Frances Ruth Meric; her parents, Rene Pierre Meric, Jr. and Elizabeth (Betty) Ruth Rasch Meric and her former husband Robert (Bobby) Carter Wilkinson, Sr. Nancy graduated from Academy of the Sacred Heart in New Orleans in 1964 and attended LSU where she received a B.A. degree in Merchandising and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority where she also served as an advisor. She worked in retail as a buyer and manager at Goudchaux’s and Pappagallo’s. She continued in sales as a successful realtor in the Baton Rouge area with C. J. Brown/Latter and Blum for over 40 years. She was a member of the West Baton Rouge Garden Club, Civic Club, Historical Association, and served on the board at the West Baton Rouge Museum. She had a compassionate spirit to serve those in need and helped many with countless organizations, but one dear to her was service specifically for women and children through Volunteers of America. She treasured her time and the friendships she cultivated during many years of membership in The Westsiders, Wit & Wisdom Study Club, and The Lunch Bunch. “Fancy Nancy” was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her eternal optimism was infectious to all who knew her. Finding the silver lining and seeing the positive side and best others in any situation was her gift. She had an incredible green thumb, and time in any garden was her solitude. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at St. Aloysius Catholic Church (2025 Stuart Ave, Baton Rouge, LA 70808) on Wednesday June 30, 2021. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a funeral mass following at 11:00 am. Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life following the service at 4422 Claycut Rd., 70808. The following day, Thursday, July 1, will be burial services at Lake Lawn Cemetery in New Orleans at 11:00 am (5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124). Pall Bearers will be Blake Davis, JohnCarter Davis, Caleb Wilkinson, Horace Wilkinson,V, Philip Meric, Matthew Meric, Michael Meric, and George Riviere. Charitable donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Wounded Warriors Project.
