Newman P. Wray, 71, a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Alexandria, passed away on Thursday March 24, 20ll surrounded by his family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Newman was a retired heavy equipment operator, a US Navy Veteran and a member of the Operator Local 406. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Edna Wray; daughter, Rhonda Wray-Simmons; three sons, Richard, Russell and Randall Wray; sister, Lucille Custis; brother, Le Roy Ray; and two grandchildren Ashlee and Haley. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Lillian Wray; and siblings Gary Gillette and Nellie Chatelain. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral home on Sunday March 27, 2011 from 5p.m. till 9p.m. and on Monday March 28, 2011 10a.m. until religious service at 12p.m, conducted by Rev. Jack Nutter. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
