Norma Carr, age 96, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2023 and is now in the loving arms of Jesus, her Savior. Norma was born in Goble, Oregon. While in Oregon she enjoyed clam digging, bowling and hunting. She moved to Baton Rouge in the mid-sixties, where she learned to love all LSU. She enjoyed fishing and taking care of her yard, and won Yard of the Month many times. She loved professional basketball, and when her memory began fading, she did not lose any memory of the NBA, past and current. She worked for the paper mill in St. Helens, Oregon and in St. Francisville, La. In later life, she became a cat person, her first cat, Boo and her current cat, Punkin, whom she loved dearly. She lived in Garden View Assisted Living the last years of her life, with her cat, Punkin, who was a good kitty giving abundant love and kisses. Norma loved her family, and was blessed to see her great grandsons grow into their teenage years. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church and loved her church family. They truly showed her the love of Christ in many ways. She is survived by her daughters, Robyn Martin, and Kathy Bonvillian (Will); granddaughter, Jessika Efferson (Chuck); great-grandsons, Andrew Efferson and Joshua Efferson; nephews, Harold Olsen (Donna) and Brad Olsen (Linda); and great nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Alta Heimuller; her sister, Barbara Olsen; and her beloved son, Kenneth Martin, with whom she is now reunited after 75 years. Special thanks to Tasha and Michelle from Cardinal Hospice and to Jessica who was a Godsend in helping us care and love our mom in the last few months.
A graveside service for Norma will be held Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Greenoaks Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70815.
