

Norris A Marchand Jr, 63, of Springfield, LA, formerly of Stilesville, IN, passed away unexpectedly on January 02, 2025 at Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge, LA. Norris was born to Mary Morgan Marchand and Norris Anthony Marchand Sr, both who preceded him in death.
Norris leaves behind his wife of twenty-six years, Emily Gregson Marchand. Together they shared two children, Joseph Gregson Marchand and Teddy Allen Marchand, both of Springfield. He also leaves a son, Norris Anthony Marchand III and granddaughter Madison, of Plainfield, IN
Norris was the fourth of six children spending most of his early years in Baton Rouge. “Moose” was an multi sport athlete and graduated from Central High in 1980. His siblings and family include: Nancy Marchand Keedy, Dubuque Iowa and her children, Morgan, Sarah, Carlton and Ashley. Susan Marchand Graham and Thomas Graham of Highland Village, TX and their children Matthew, Rebecca and John. Charie Marchand Barber and Dr. Gerald Barber of St Francisville and their children, Jude, Chad, Mary and Lily. Karen Marchand Garner of Baton Rouge and her children, Anastasia, Charles and Elizabeth. Kristy Marchand (widow of Keith) and her daughters, Michael Ann and Ali. His brother Allen Keith Marchand also preceded him in death.His stepmother is Emma Gajan Marchand of Baton Rouge.
He was brother-in-law to four in Indiana: Beth Gregson (Bob Marks), Indianapolis and Ann Gregson, Amy Gregson and Julie Gregson all of Plainfield.
Norris was a mechanic by trade, gaining on the job training working alongside his dad and brother at Marchand Machinery in Baton Rouge. Norris also had an early interest for aviation, working at the Baton Rouge Airport as a teen with a buddy from high school.
He graduated from Sowela Technical Community College in Lake Charles, receiving his A&P Associate’s Degree. He worked for a short time at PHI Helicopter before starting at United Airlines at age 24.
He started as a painter in San Francisco and held many positions including Aircraft Inspector. He also worked in Indianapolis, Chicago and lastly New Orleans, making his round trip ticket complete returning to to his home of Louisiana. His wish was to return to live near the water to enjoy the food of the region and life on the Tickfaw River. He enjoyed his last years here with his family living on Blood River and making new friends at MSY and Childers.
Norris never met a stranger and would help anybody especially if a repair was necessary. He leaves behind many friends both far and wide.
A Memorial Service will be held at St Margaret Queen of Scotland Catholic Church in Albany/Hammond, LA at 10 am Tuesday January 7, 2025. Calling begins at 9 am. Future services will be held in Indiana at St Susanna Catholic Church in Plainfield IN with a Mass and burial at Stilesville Cemetery.
Norris attended church both at St Thomas in Springfield and St Margaret in Albany. Contributions made be made to the building fund for St Thomas. Donations may also be made to your favorite animal shelter or rescue.
Norris, always an animal lover, also leaves his pets, cat Pearl and dogs Bella, Yuki and his bonded buddy Cowboy. The three dogs were able to say there final goodbye thanks to the people at Rabenhorst. Special thanks to Greg and Corky.
