
A retired Texaco dealer with more than 30 years service, he was a native of Montpelier and resident of Baton Rouge. He died Saturday, June 5, 2010, at his residence. He was 84 and a member of First Baptist Church of Baton Rouge. Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and 9:30 a.m. Friday until the religious service in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Ragan Courtney. Interment will follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Esther Bourn Courtney; sons, Chester D. Courtney and wife Sandra LaFontaine, David E. Courtney and wife Dinah McDonald; grandchildren, Christopher, Jonathan, Adam, Daniel and Marshall Courtney; great-grandchildren, Nathan and Karson Courtney; sister, Mildred Courtney Miller; brother, Frank Courtney; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, William F. and Patience White Courtney; brothers, Robert, Clarence, Francis, Floyd, Alva and Elzy Courtney; and sisters, Catherine Courtney Morgan, Thelma Courtney Sharkey, Shirley Courtney Corkern and Hazel Courtney. Pallbearers will be his grandsons and Dale Garner.
