My wonderful wife of 57 years passed on peacefully Monday, Oct. 20, 2008, after a lengthy illness. She leaves behind three wonderful children and their spouses, Jeff Schneider, Chip and Jody Schneider and Day and Roy Waggenspack; grandchildren, Jon Schneider, Sarah Schneider, Jason and Sarah Waggenspack, Emmett Waggenspack, Sydney Schneider and Sam Schneider; and a great-grandchild, Kegan James Coburn. She was raised and schooled in Ohio and Michigan and I met her on a brief visit to Baton Rouge. I was smitten and married her soon after in Reno, Nev., when I was called to the U.S. Navy on the west coast in 1951. Pat was very active in the community in the '50s and '60s. She ran a series of classes for young women and ran a "ready to wear" department at Rubensteins Corp. for many years. She raised three beautiful children who are a credit to her and all went on to families of their own. Pat has been ill for about a year and a half under the wonderful care of Hospice of Baton Rouge. Penny Perkins with Hospice was her special nurse and friend through her illness. The whole family would like to thank her for all that she has done. We love you. If you wish to memorialize Pat, it is suggested that in lieu of flowers please give a gift to Hospice of Baton Rouge, 9063 Siegen Lane, Suite A, Baton Rouge, LA 70810. -Irwin R. "Dick" Schneider, husband. Memorial visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Wednesday, Oct. 22, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
