It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Patsy Rhett Berry Vidrine on April 5, 2026, Easter Sunday, her favorite holiday. Born on July 21, 1939, in Wisner, Louisiana, Patsy was 86 years old at the time of her passing. Patsy was the cherished daughter of the late Pat Berry and Lucy Moore Berry.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Don Holden Vidrine; her sister Audrey Berry Langbehn and brother-in-law Bill Langbehn; her sister-in-law Frances Berry; her dear Aunt Henrietta “Rhett” Moore (for whom she received her middle name, Rhett); and her dear parents. Patsy's legacy is lovingly carried forward by her children: Dwayne Vidrine and his wife Karen, Brent Vidrine and his wife Kay, Dionne Vidrine Thibodeaux and her husband Randy, and Leslie Vidrine Denino and her husband Mark. She is also survived by her brother, Don Berry and family. Her grandchildren, Don Michael, Chris, and Terrell Vidrine; Anthony, Matthew, Eva, Luke, and John Denino; Shane and Rhett Thibodeaux; as well as her great-grandchildren Shane, Collin, Elizabeth, Victoria, and Lily Thibodeaux, will continue to honor her memory and the love she so freely gave.
Patsy and Don Vidrine's love story began in Baton Rouge, where they met on a blind date while they both were attending LSU. They were married in Baton Rouge and shared their lives together until Don’s passing. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and family. A proud 1957 graduate of Istrouma High in Baton Rouge, Patsy furthered her education at Louisiana State University, where she was an active member of Beta Sigma Omicron sorority that enriched her college experience. Patsy and her family made their home in the Broadmoor subdivision of Baton Rouge in 1969, where she became a faithful member of the Broadmoor Baptist Church community. Patsy was a woman of many talents and passions. A gifted seamstress, she lovingly crafted and altered clothing for her family, especially for her daughter’s special occasions. Her artistic spirit found expression in crafting and painting, as she created works in oil and acrylic that captured the beauty of Louisiana's landscape and flora. Her roots in a North Louisiana farming community were evident in her love for gardening. Patsy's green thumb was legendary, particularly her skill in cultivating roses, which she shared generously with family and friends. She was an active member of the Baton Rouge Rose Society for many years, serving as its President on several occasions. Her backyard was a testament to her love of nature, always in full bloom with a dazzling array of flowers and roses.
The Vidrine family extends their heartfelt thanks to the compassionate care teams at Sunrise Assisted Living, Amera Assisted Living, and Hospice of Baton Rouge, who provided comfort and dignity during Patsy's final days. A special note of gratitude is also given to Patsy’s private sitters, Jessabel Madanlo, Joycel Ramas, Maribel Tesoro, Roselyn Ignacio, Bobbie Robinson, Annette Flowers, Stacey David, Stacy Thompson and others who were angels in her life.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Patsy's honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at https://share.google/KNW9hlWW1RV9PGIYr.
Patsy's warmth, generosity, and zest for life touched everyone she met. Her legacy of love will forever be cherished by her family and friends. Though we mourn her passing, we celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the love she shared with all who knew her. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the roses she so dearly loved.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life in honor of Patsy on Saturday, May 2nd, 2026 at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA at 1:30 PM. A Gathering for family and friends will be held from 1:00 PM until 1:30 PM followed by a Graveside burial service in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
