

Paul Raymond "White" Burns died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, July 3, at the age of 97 years. He was a native of Labadieville, LA. He is survived by his brother Raymond, and sisters Lois Sharkey of Birmingham, AL and Marie Simoneaux of Baton Rouge, LA as well as by his children, Anna Louise Gauthreaux, Paul J. Burns and his wife, Deanna Couvillion Burns; Frances Dugas and husband Mickey; Rosemary Dietrich and husband, Ronnie; Frank Burns; Elizabeth Delaune and husband Charles as well as 15 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Rosa Mary Bagala Burns and his first wife Anna Louise Braud of Napoleonville, LA who died in 1937. He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Roy, Robert, Pat, Wilbert and Shelby, Jr. Burns and three sisters Sidonia Burns, Jeannie Martinez and Anna Mae Landry. Paul was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church when his children were being raised and active as a Knight of Columbus. Currently he is a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. He worked at Kaiser Aluminum during WWII and later retired from Ethyl Corp as a maintenance supervisor after 40 years of service. His hobbies were baseball, fishing, gardening and his family. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Eric Burns, Mike Dugas, Keith Delaune, Kevin Burns, Steve Dugas and Daniel Burns. Honorary pallbearers are Kurt and Ryan Dietrich and Robert Gauthreaux, Jr. Visitation will be at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church at 14040 Greenwell Springs Rd. on Friday July 6 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. with funeral services following. His grandson Fr. Basil David Burns, and nephew Fr. Gerald Burns will preside with interment at Resthaven.
