
A devoted and loving father and husband, Whit passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 3, 2007, in Baton Rouge. He was 46 and a native of Baton Rouge. Whit loved to fish with his sons and hike local trails. He was an avid gardener with native plants and held a black belt in tae kwon do. Whit attended high school at the University Laboratory School and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Alabama in 1982, with a bachelor's degree in computer science. He worked as a computer analyst in Baton Rouge at Gulf Coast Analytical and was a lifelong member of University Baptist Church. He is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife, Andrea Cherry Murrill; sons, Thomas Benjamin Shea, Alexander Boyd Murrill and Boyd Whitfield Murrill, all of Baton Rouge; parents, Paul Whitfield Murrill Sr. and Nancy Williams Murrill of Baton Rouge; brothers, John Parham Murrill and William Britton Murrill; and sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Baker Murrill and Kasey Barber Murrill, all of Baton Rouge; brother-in-law, Steve Dunlap of Zachary; uncle and aunt, Parham Henry Williams and Polly Williams, Orange, Calif.; and numerous cousins and nephews and a niece. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Wednesday, June 6, was from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Visiting at University Baptist Church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m., conducted by Dr. George Haile and Dr. Jay Hogewood. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be William Britton Murrill, John Parham Murrill, Kelly Ray Allen, Thomas Benjamin Shea, James Ruckman, Parham Henry Williams Jr., John Franklin Williams and Steve Dunlap. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hilltop Arboretum or the charity of your choice.
