

René J. Tullier, 55, of New Canaan, CT passed away suddenly Monday, March 14, 2016 at Norwalk Hospital, Norwalk, CT. René was born in Baton Rouge on August 10, 1960, son of JD and Myrna Ponthieu Tullier. René was a 1978 graduate of Redemptorist High School, received his BS from LSU, was a civil engineer with a great passion for bridge design and worked at engineering firms in Baton Rouge, Syracuse and Dallas. He felt that his greatest achievement in engineering was the High Five Project in Dallas. René was at HNTB then and lead that project to design a massive five-story interchange. If you drive over the High Five, feel confident that this amazing structure is safe and secure because René did it. He loved all things electronic and spending time with his son, Lucas, and visiting with his family at their country house in Bordelonville, LA. He also loved hiking in Colorado, skiing, fast cars and was looking forward to sharing all these things with Lucas. One of his favorite experiences was going to Porsche driving school with one of his good friends, Steve Carlin. René is survived by his son, Lucas; his parents, JD and Myrna Tullier; his brother, Danny Tullier and his wife Miriam; his sister, Aimee Harrell; four nephews, Christopher and Marc Tullier and Austin and Alex Harrell; and his two beloved dogs, Macey and Riley. He is also survived by his ex-wife, Kelly Mahon Tullier. Visitation will be at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 440 Marquette Ave, on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 from 9:30 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am celebrated by Rev. Cleo Milano. Burial will take place at a later time. Pallbearers will be Danny, Christopher and Marc Tullier, Austin and Alex Harrell, and Jerry Holder. René's life was about being a good friend, father, husband, son, brother and uncle.
