
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he passed away Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at the Southeast Louisiana War Veterans Home in Reserve. He was 93, a native of Plaquemine and a resident of Baton Rouge. He retired in 1980 with 35 years service with Capital City Press. He was employed from 1983 through 2011 with the State of Louisiana, Office of the Governor; serving under five governors. Dutch was a former member of the East Baton Rouge Council on Aging, a delegate to the LA Council on Aging, a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church and Usher Society and the St. Matthew"s Guild. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd, on Thursday, February 2, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., with Recitation of The Rosary at 7:00 p.m. led by the Usher Society of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Visitation to resume on Friday, Feb. 3, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 440 Marquette Ave, from 1:00 p.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 p.m., celebrated by the Rev. Arun John. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Janice Laurent of Prairieville; one daughter and son-in-law, Randie and Charles Latiolais of Port Allen; two grandchildren, Chase Latiolais and Michelle Latiolais; two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Hayden Clinesmith; and a number of nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife, Lila Lee Laurent; parents, Richard S. and Alice Laurent; three brothers, Harold Laurent, Murphy ÒTigerÓ Laurent and John J. Laurent; and three sisters, Mary B. Lassard, Elvira Haydel and Alice Davis. Pallbearers will be Steven Bouquet, O. J. Lassard Jr., Eugene Laurent, Cyril LeJeune, Richard ÒDickieÓ LeJeune and Clark Yelverton. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandson and great-grandsons. A sincere thanks to the caring staff of the Southeast Louisiana War Veterans Home.
