

A wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle – Richard transitioned from this life to begin his glorious journey with his Lord and Saviour on Thursday, September 8, 2016, at BR General Medical Center-Bluebonnet surrounded by his loving family. He was 68, a life-long resident of Baton Rouge, LA and native of Erwinville, LA. Richard was a retired Master Carpenter, working many years for Harvey Honore’ Construction, United Together, LLC and lastly with Ronnie Howard Construction. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 45 years, Josephine Howard DeCuir; children, Melissa DeCuir Thompson (Kori, Sr.); Richard Lee DeCuir, Jr. (Mitzi); Danielle DeCuir; and Daniel DeCuir (Cassandra); 16 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Margaret Broussard (Darrel); and Kathleen Gabriel (Harry); 3 brothers, Henry DeCuir, Jr; Michael DeCuir (Beatrice); and Ronald DeCuir (Terri); 2 sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Howard; and Allison Barnes (Kevin); 5 brothers-in-law, Clarence Braud; Earl Bajoie; Ronnie Howard (Sylvia); Darrell Scott (Sabrina); and Joseph Howard (Cynthia); 2 Godsons, Wesley Legarde (Tameka); and Michael Bajoie (Avis); and a host of relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry DeCuir, Sr and Rita Collins DeCuir; 2 sisters, Cecil Bajoie and Lucy Braud; mother-in-law, Helen Bocard Howard; father-in-law, Arthur Howard, Sr; 4 brothers-in-law and 1 sister-in-law. Richard received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour at an early age at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lakeland, LA. After attending Greater King David Baptist Church for many years with his wife, he rededicated his life to Christ, was baptized by Dr. John E. Montgomery II and officially became a member. He loved dressing to the 9s to worship and praise God! He was well loved and will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held at Greater King David Baptist Church, 222 Blount Road, Baton Rouge, LA 70807 on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until Homegoing Celebration at 11:00 a.m. conducted by Dr. John E. Montgomery II. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Boulevard, Baton Rouge, LA 70815. Arrangements under the direction of Greenoaks Funeral Home, Baton Rouge, LA.
