Richard Vance "Rick" Massengale. "Don't grow weary in doing well, for in due time you will reap a harvest if you faint not." Galations 6:9. Rick Massengale passed away suddenly on July 22, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was born on May 15, 1976 to Billie, and the late, Jim Massengale. He graduated from Episcopal High School in 1994, and attended Tulane University where he graduated in 1999. Rick loved all sports, but was especially gifted in soccer. He was able to travel to South America and Russia as a part of the Jr. Team U. S. A. when he was a teenager. As he grew to young manhood, he became an Eagle Scout. His love for soccer continued throughout his life as he went on to coach soccer. Rick's passion for sports kept him involved as an avid Saints and Pelicans fan. Rick is survived by his wife, Shelley Schaefer Massengale, and his three children: Camille James Massengale, Caroline Joseph Massengale, and Edward Vance Schaefer Massengale, his brother, Toby Massengale, and brother, Trent Massengale and his wife, Ann. He also leaves behind nieces, Erica, Emma, and Cole Massengale, and nephew, Ethan Massengale, and two sister in laws, Shannon Schaefer and Saree Schaefer. Rick achieved the ultimate success in his business, InforMD. His goal in life was to empower others to succeed. His positive attitude, and infectious generosity became his trademark. Strangers might not have known his name, but they always thanked this unassuming man for the handout, or extra cash he bestowed on them. Much like his father before him, Rick loved to "throw kindness around like confetti". It was his greatest gift to all who knew him. Rick was the ultimate encourager, never giving up on anyone, and always had a kind word for everyone. Visitation will be from 9:30 until services at 11:00 at The Chapel on the Campus on Friday, July 29, 2016. Interment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery, Mike Haman, officiating. Pallbearers will be Toby Massengale, Trent Massengale, Jason Borne, Chris Pogosyan, Robby Hare, Steve Hare, Trey Pratts, and Ethan Massengale. One of Rick's favorite quotes was, "You can have whatever you want in life if you first show enough other people how to get what they want." In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to those who need our help.
