Rickey Boyd, a native a McComb, MS and a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, April 13th, 2012 at the age of 53. He is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 32 years, Deidre "Dee" Boyd; his son and daughter-in-law, David and Rebecca Boyd; son, Chris Boyd; parents, C.K. and Willie Johnson of McComb; sister, Nancy Maureen Heurtin of Destrehan; loving grandchildren, Drake, Avarie, and Levi Boyd; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Margaret and Win Landry; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Tamara and Douglas Allen; sister-in-law, Beth Boyd; brothers-in-law, J.D. and Aaron Daugherty; and many nieces and nephews. Special friends George and Sherry Coryell, and Dale Miller were near and dear to him always. He is preceded in death by his brother, John Elwood Boyd. Rickey cherished his family and friends and loved to keep us all smiling and laughing with his jokes. He loved his fishing trips and being outdoors. "We know you are fishing in the River Jordan." Sincere gratitude to the many doctors and nurses at Renal Associates, Fresenius Dialysis Center, and Our Lady of the Lake Hospital for their care through the years. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd. Baton Rouge, on Sunday April 15, 2012 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and resume Monday, April 16, 2012 from 9 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m. conducted by Rev. Ken Carroll. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency (LOPA) in Rickey's memory.
