Rita Munson Bankston

She was a retired salesperson with Goudchaux's Department Store. Rita died at 3:40 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph's Hospice. Rita was 92, a native of Plaquemine and resident of Baton Rouge. A graveside service, under the direction of Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park on Thursday, Feb. 16, at 1 p.m., conducted by Deacon Brent Duplessis. She is survived by her two sons, Leroy Bankston Jr. and wife Sarah, and Benny Bankston; her daughter, Patricia B. Richard and husband Dale; grandchildren and their spouses, Layton and Jennifer Bankston, Brian and Kelly Bankston, Brandon and Dawn Bankston, Teri and Marc Jeansonne, Duane Mixon and Noelie Bankston; great-grandchildren, Kyle, Karlyn, Brianne, Brennan and Bailey Bankston, Vivian, Winnfield and Madeleine Jeansonne and Halley Bankston; sister, Irene Orillion; and two brothers, Wilton and Wilmer Munson. Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Layton L. Bankston Sr.; two sons, Ronald and Jeffery; her parents, two sisters and a brother. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
