
Robert "Bob" Franklin Ryder, a resident of Baton Rouge, entered into the presence of his Lord Jesus Christ Sunday, July 22, at his home surrounded by his family. He was 69 years of age born August 18, 1942, in Abbeville, Louisiana. He is survived by his loving wife Gladys Quave Ryder; daughter Robin Ryder Waites Tullier and husband Brad Tullier; son Robert "Randy" Ryder and wife Sonya Carraway Ryder; grandchildren Lauren Waites, Bryan Waites, Robert Ryder, Vivian Ryder, and Johnathan Ryder; step-grandchildren Katie Tullier, Jessica Tullier, and Jacob Tullier; and siblings Charles Ryder, Don Ryder, and Margaret Ryder Windham. He was preceded in death by his parents Earl Angelo Ryder and Laura Margaret Olano Ryder, as well as his brother Earl Ryder, his sister Joyeclyn Ryder Dwyer, and his son-in-law George Waites. A retiree of Exxonmobil Corporation, Bob began his career at the Baton Rouge refinery as an electrician apprentice and ended his career in 1998 as an Electrical Quality Assurance Coordinator after over 30 years of service. During those years of service, he received several letters of commendation for his innovative and cost-efficient ideas. "Project Bob" enjoyed his profession and often applied his skills to help his friends and family to accomplish an assortment of tasks safely. There was almost nothing he could not repair. Bob was a member of the Central Masonic Lodge, 442, F&AM for over twenty-five years. He enjoyed serving his community by working with the Order of DeMolay youth fraternity. In addition, Bob was a loving PawPaw figure to many, an inventor, a collector, a caretaker, a fisherman, a workhorse, and a Christian. Visitation begins Wednesday, July 25, at Rabenhorst- East Funeral Home (11000 Florida Blvd.) from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM; Masonic service to begin at 7:00 PM. Visitation continues the following day Thursday, July 26, at Hosanna First Assembly (8850 Goodwood Blvd.) at 9:00 AM; religious service to begin at 10:00 AM; followed by procession to Green Oaks Memorial Park (9595 Florida Blvd.). Bob will be interred next to his son-in-law George Waites in the Garden of Valor. The family extends their thankfulness to all those who have contributed and shared in the various moments of Bob's life and during his most precious gift of "bonus" time.
