
A resident of Central, he passed away Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, at the Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jackson at age 82. He was born in Central and lived throughout the United States working for Allied Chemical Corp. as a foreman. He came home in 1968 to Central, where he retired from Allied Signal in 1976. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting resumes at Blackwater United Methodist Church, 10000 Blackwater Road, on Saturday from noon until religious service at 1 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Bill Moon. Interment with military honor guard in the church cemetery. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of Blackwater United Methodist Church and a lifelong member of the Boy Scouts of America, where he served as Scoutmaster of Troop 13 for years. He also served on several district and council Scouting committees and was known as the "MAN" of the mess hall at Camp Avondale. He earned Scouting's Silver Beaver Award in 1989. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Betty Cobb. He is survived by his six children and their spouses, Robert Jr. and Nancy Cobb, Theresa and Randy Williams, Michael Cobb, Thomas and Sherri Cobb, all of Baton Rouge, Karen and Victor Anderson, of Bossier City, and Donald and Barbara Cobb, of Edenton, N.C. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, Robert III and Raymond Cobb, Becky Louviere, Clifton and Corey Mouliere, Clay, Russell and Teri Williams, Christopher, Craig and Kaitlyn Cobb, Jake Cobb, James, Nicholas and Michael Anderson, and Kati and Peyton Cobb; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents, Thomas Sr. and Virginia Hazlip Cobb, who were of Centreville, Miss.; and his brother, Thomas James Cobb Jr. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers are his great-grandchildren. Special thank you to the Louisiana War Veterans Home and Odyssey Hospice.
