
Morgan Fairchild, 89, passed away Monday, Jan 21, 2008, at the Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jackson. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Wed, Jan. 23, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. Visiting resumes at the funeral home on Thursday from 9 a.m. until service at 10 a.m., by the Rev. Bill Moon of Blackwater United Methodist Church, where Morgan was a member. Interment in Roselawn Cemetery, 4045 North St. Morgan was born Dec. 7, 1918, in Greenwell Springs, to Georgia Mixon Fairchild and Jesse Lee "Cap" Fairchild Sr. Morgan was a lifelong resident of Greenwell Springs. He graduated from Central High School in 1937. He joined the Louisiana National Guard and was attending flight school when he was deployed to England at the start of World War II as a ball turret gunner on a B-17 with the 306th Bomb Group, Eighth Air Force, U.S. Army Air Corps, for two years, flying 25 missions. He retired from the Air Force Reserve with 20 years of service and from the East Baton Rouge Parish Department of Public Works with 30 years of service. He was a charter member of Central Masonic Lodge, the American Legion, a Shriner and a member of the Baton Rouge High Twelve Club. Morgan was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Clotilde Facundus Fairchild; his parents; and three brothers, Walter E. "Gene" Fairchild, Nelson Lee Fairchild and George Marion Fairchild. He is survived by two daughters, Patricia F. Kuehne and husband Roland Kuehne, and Pamela Fairchild Cooley, all of Greenwell Springs; three grandchildren, Robert Charles McCrory and wife Gaye, of Benton, and Michael R. Kuehne and Max Morgan Cooley, both of Greenwell Springs; four great-grandchildren, Morgan Leigh McCrory and Erin Nicole Lynch, both of Benton, and Mia Adaire Kuehne and Jett Michael Kuehne, both of Greenwell Springs; brother, Dr. Jesse Lee Fairchild Jr.; and three sisters-in"“law, Helen Fairchild, Joyce Edwards and husband Wallace, and Barbara "Bobbie" Bogan and husband Walter, all of Greenwell Springs, as well as a host of family and friends. Pallbearers will be Robbie McCrory, Michael Kuehne, Max Cooley, Houston Fairchild, Cordell Fairchild, Luke Fontenot and Wade McKell. Honorary pallbearers are Roland Kuehne, Jimmy D. Boitnott Sr. and Thomas Jarreau. Donations may be made to the Shriner's Hospitals for Children or a charity of choice.
