
It is with profound sadness that our family announces the passing of our loved one, Bobby Wicker. Bobby died at 12:35 a.m. Thursday, April 17, 2008, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet after a courageous fight with lung cancer. He was born on Sept. 7, 1936, in Baton Rouge, and lived most of his adult life in Baton Rouge. He was a retired educator and coach. He graduated from Istrouma High School, Baton Rouge, Northwestern State University, Natchitoches, and LSU, Baton Rouge. Bobby was an outstanding athlete at Istrouma High School and Northwestern State University. He was a four-year starter on Northwestern's basketball team and was named the conference's outstanding field man in track. Bobby loved to fly and was very interested in aerospace education. He especially enjoyed his experience coaching the University Lab School elementary football team from 2001-2005 and spending time on his farm in Zachary. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Saturday, April 19, from 11 a.m. until religious service at 1 p.m. in the chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dick Gates, First Presbyterian Church. Burial in Roselawn Cemetery, 4045 North St. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Arthé Allen Wicker; two daughters, Terry Pace, Springhill, and Gina Price and her husband, Tommy, West Monroe; two stepchildren, Sugar Jenkins Weil, New Orleans, and Stephen M. Jenkins and wife Susan, Baton Rouge; two aunts, Inez Paxton and Audrey Blouin; nine grandchildren, Seth Pace, Keith Pace, John Price, Courtney Price, Reiss Weil, Grant Jenkins, Allen Jenkins, Davis Jenkins and AnneMichael Jenkins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Joel Wicker and Eunice Roubique Wicker. Pallbearers will be Seth Pace, Keith Pace, Grant Jenkins, Allen Jenkins, Davis Jenkins and Reis Weil. The family extends special thanks to his caregivers, Dr. Gerald Miletello and staff, Dr. Michael McCarthy and Chiquita Ellis. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge, 550 Lobdell Ave., Baton Rouge, LA 70806.
