On the morning of January 4, 2021 Robert Edward Wiemer, Sr. (Bob) passed away surrounded by his loved ones. He was a wonderful husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend to so very many. Bob was born in St. Rose, Louisiana on November 24, 1931, graduated from Sewanee Military Academy, attended LSU and Southeastern, and was a veteran of the United States Army stationed in Camp Hanford, Washington where he was assigned the position of radio operator. He is preceded in death by his parents, George Conrad and Evelyn Morgan Wiemer and his first wife, Diane Keller Wiemer. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Hessburg Wiemer; five children, Robert Wiemer and his wife, Jennifer; Kelli Wiemer Bankston and her husband, Brent; Elizabeth Wiemer Pipkin and her husband, Greg; Brandli Wiemer Greer and her husband, Roger; and JoLynn Wiemer Patin and her husband, Mark; and four stepchildren; Elizabeth Olis, Anne Laverick, James Hessburg and his wife, Alyson, and Thomas Hessburg and his wife, Teddi. He is also survived by twenty grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, his sister, JoAnn Hughes, and nieces and nephews. Bob loved LSU football, the Saints, Georges, and being part of the University High School "chain gang" for years and years, but the true love of his life was his "Sweet Kitty" with whom he was together for twenty-eight years. A true blessing in his life, Bob loved her with all of his heart. A very special thank-you to his caregivers, Diane Lacey and Edith Doucet who helped take such wonderful care of Bob with such patience and grace. A private service will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2021.
