

Roger Lewis Lanier passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2026, at the age of 88. He was a native of Savannah, GA, and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, LA. Roger’s way was quiet, loving, unassuming, kind and gentle. After 23 years, retiring from the US Coast Guard, he spent his remaining career on the water as Gulf Coast Regional Manager for Apex Oil Company, covering Houston, TX, to Jacksonville, FL. Loving the water as he did, the family spent many wonderful times boating on the “My Noelle” on Lake Pontchartrain. Roger is survived by his loving and devoted wife of over 41 years, Noelle Nevils Lanier; children, Anne-Marie Morin (Michael), Tracy Mincey (Donnie), H. Craig Davidson (Cristy), Dianna Williams (Brett), Colleen Lanier (Darrell Gloshen), and Amelie Lanier; grandchildren, Chelsea Reyes (Nicholas), Alec Morin (Sydnee), Dianna, and Paul Anthony Morin, Angela Whitmire (Scott), Keelie Mincey, Zoe Davidson, Caleb Bise (Amber), Maddi, Amy, and Brian Williams, Megan Hartman (Andrew), Shannon Weaver (Jake), Mary Beth Vaa, and Blake Barnes; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Marie Smith; and a host of other family members and friends. Roger is preceded in death by his son, Gerald Lanier; parents, David and Bertha Lanier; and numerous siblings. Visitation will be at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 445 Marquette St., Baton Rouge, LA, on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, from 9am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10am. Inurnment will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
