

Rose Mary Carmouche Babin passed away on Friday, February 17, 2017 at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was surrounded by her family. She is remembered in many ways, but especially for her unwavering faith in God, devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and her steadfast love and commitment to her family and friends. She and her husband were charter members of Saint Gerard Majella parish. She was a long term member of the Legion of Mary and served in nursing home ministry religiously.
She is survived by her children, Roch Babin, Mary Claire Jurey and husband, Mark, Brother Gabriel Babin O.S.B., Christina Babin, and Jonathan Babin. Grandchildren are Adam Jurey and his wife, Kimberly, Elizabeth Jurey, Jace Babin. Her great grandchildren are Zoey Jurey and her sibling to come. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph M. “Buddy” Babin, her children Joseph Michael Babin and Stephanie B. Leavitt, her parents, Emile N. and Beatrice Carmouche, and her sister, Judith Rushing.
Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Monday, February 20th from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at 12:15 p.m. at Saint Thomas More Catholic Church on Tuesday, February 21st, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and Al Delaney, Kenny Hebert, Charles Milne, Mark Rushing, Tim Rushing, and Steven Rushing. Honorary pallbearer will be Taylor Capello.
The family would like to thank Our Lady of the Lake Hospital doctors, nurses and staffs of the SPCU and the Heart and Vascular Institute for their compassionate care during her final days.
