

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul.” Mr. Royce Bordelon, born in Melville and a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away June 29th, 2014 at the age of 92. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 66 years, Ella Mae Bordelon. Mr. Royce was employed with BellSouth from 1946 until his retirement as District Construction Supervisor in 1985. He was a proud Marine; he joined in 1942. He served his country in WWII for two tours. His first tour was at the end of the Guadalcanal campaign; then he went to New Georgia Islands and Bougainville. He then volunteered for a second tour on Okinawa where he was a machine gunner on a TBM Torpedo bomber plane. Mr. Royce was a member for 47 years at Broadmoor Methodist Church. His hobby of being an avid woodworker enabled him to build furniture for Broadmoor’s fundraising events, family members and friends.
Mr. Royce is survived by his wife, Ella Mae Bordelon, a daughter, Linda Tate and husband Perry; two sons, Mark Bordelon and wife Melanie and Tyrrell Bordelon; grandchildren; Allison Tate Zeringue and husband Barry, Melissa Tate Zeringue and husband Clint, Scott Bordelon and Janet Bordelon; three great grandchildren, Lily and Ava Zeringue and Matthew Zeringue.
Preceeded in death by his parents Cliff and Evelyn Bordelon, a daughter, Phyllis Anne Bordelon, and three brothers.
Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge on Friday, July 4th from 5:00pm til 8:00pm. Visitation will resume at Greenoaks Funeral Home, Saturday, July 5th from 8:00am til funeral service at 10:00am; burial will follow immediately at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Broadmoor United Methodist Church.
