

"Russell Salvador Crapanzano, D.D.S., died on January 1, 2017, after a brief illness. Dr. Crapanzano was born on May 15, 1932, to Sam and Francis Crapanzano of Hammond, Louisiana. After completing his undergraduate education at Southeastern Louisiana University, Dr. Crapanzano moved to New Orleans to study dentistry at Loyola. It was in New Orleans that he met the love of his life, Elsie Rita "Sissy" Sanders. He and Sissy married in 1958 and remained inseparable until her death. Russ and Sissy were residents of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he practiced dentistry for many years. Dr. Crapanzano asked that his patients be thanked; he considered each one a friend. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dr. Joseph Crapanzano, and a son-in-law, Gregory Creed. He is survived by his sister, Mary C. Sciara. Also surviving Dr. Crapanzano are his six children and their spouses: Cathleen Creed; Dr. Russell S. Cropanzano (Carol); Dr. Michael S. Crapanzano (Kathleen); Susan C. Kalmbach (Fred); Carol Crapanzano; and David Crapanzano. Pawpaw was grandfather to Joshua Cropanzano; Timothy Cropanzano; Lauren Crapanzano Jumonville (Benjamin); Michael Crapanzano, Jr.; Matthew Crapanzano; Alexander Edelen (Catherine); Erich Edelen (Lauren); and Anna Kalmbach; and great-grandfather to Emily and Korie Edelen. Daddy was humble and kind. He was loved, and he will be missed. Visitation will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church on Thursday, January 5, 2017, at 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. Entombment will follow on the grounds of Resthaven.
