
Mrs. Ruth Ella Verret was born Ruth Ella Deairy in Prairieville, La. to Thomas L. Deairy and Ella V. Duplantier on January 4, 1944. Ruth grew up in Prairieville, La. and later moved to Marianna, Arkansas until she returned to Louisiana in her young adult years. After her graduation from McKinley High School in Baton Rouge, La., Ruth Ella left and moved to Dallas, Tx., Gary, Indiana and back to her beloved Baton Rouge, La. As a young adult Ruth Ella had one son, Edward D. Cobbs. Ruth was employed with Baton Rouge General Hospital and Womans’ Hospital in the Radiology Department which of where she retired after 35 years of dedicated and compassionate services for helping and loving people. Ruth volunteered as a home health advocate and she loved her martial arts recognitions. Ruth Ella was a diehard reader. She loved to wrap up in one of her many personal throws/blankets and read a good book within two to five days of each book she read. Her love for all types novels really kept her busy along with her life long hobby of crocheting! Ruth Ella would crochet until her fingers turned blue! Making homemade special gifts (crocheting blankets and hats) for babies at area hospitals and donating all extra hats and blankets to immediate family and friends. She loved to crochet socks, throws, pillow coverings, etc. With those special gifts, she loved putting a smile on everyone faces who came across her path. Crocheting was something unique from Ruth Ella. It was her way of sharing what was dear to her heart and from her heart with love. Ruth was past member at Gloryland Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend John D. Lands, which she sung in the mass choir for years. On June 24, 2000 Ruth Ella found love once again and married Todd G. Verret. Ruth and Todd became members of Jesus Christ is Lord Ministries; 4055 E. BrookstownDrive; Baton Rouge, La. under the leadership of Pastor R.C. White. Until her death, Ruth Ella became an active member at Berean; A Seventh-Day Adventist Congregation. Mrs. Ruth Ella departed this life on Sunday evening, March 21, 2021. She leaves to cherish her memory; A Loving Husband, Todd Verret; One son, Edward D. Cobbs (Trenal), 3 grandchildren; Edward D. Cobbs, JR. of Beaumont, TX., April C. Iloba (Toby) of Midland, TX, and Brittany R. Cobbs of Beaumont, TX. Two great-grandchildren; Maddox C. Robson and Nathaniel K. Iloba. Two Sisters; Deloris (Alvin) Jacobs and Gloria J. Mitchell both of Gary, Indiana. Two Brothers in Law: Andre Verret (Cynthia) and Peter Verret, all of Baton Rouge, La. Ruth was preceded in death by her mother, Ella V. Duplantier, her father, Thomas L. Deairy. One brother, Enoris Roberson and One Sister, Lula Mae Roberts. Public Visitation will be Saturday April 17th, 2021 at 11:00am to 12:00 noon.
