

A resident of Baton Rouge passed away at 10:30 am Monday, July 29, 2013 at his residence. He was a Navy WWII veteran and avid hunter and fisherman, member of Knights of Columbus,http://www.legacy.com/memorial-sites/vfw/?personid=166115369&affiliateID=1382" id="InlineMicrositeLink_VFW" target="_blank" title="Visit VFW Memorial Site to see similar profiles">VFW, and St. Aloysius Usher Society. Sam wore many hats in his 90 years and was known as a man of great faith, courage, integrity, and devotion to his God. As patriarch of our family, he was always one to lend a helping hand to those in need. We will remember him as one whose opinions were steadfast and dependable, never wavering from the center and are comforted by heartfelt prayers that God will hold him close and reward him as a good and faithful servant. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Ada Mut Cambio Michelli, daughter, Wanda and Michael Lamana; sons, Ronald and Linda Michelli, and Michael and Angela Michelli; sister, Sarah Michelli Lockwood; grandchildren, Twana and Robert Pulliam, Kellie and Bob Barton, Andi and Jude Chatelain, Danielle R. Lamana, Joe and Erin Michelli, Richard and Laura Michelli and Gina and Michael Carter; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; stepdaughters, Cindy Cambio and Mark Higgins and Jenelle and Glenn Birt; stepsons, Ed and Diane Cambio, Ronnie and Betsy Cambio, Buddy and Deborah Cambio and Leonard Cambio; step grandchildren, Susie and Chuck Hall, Chandra Cambio, Dawn Mahoney, Chris and Shawna Mahoney, Sarah and Jarrod Dilworth, Abigail Chumby, Dyland and Tara Baker, Mary Adams, Melissa Higgins and Scott Couch, Elizabeth and Chuck Hopkins and 15 step great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Kelly and Dora Morrow Michelli; first wife of 49 years, Wanda Estelle Denman Michelli; brother, Joseph K. Michelli; sisters, Mary Michelli Cangelosi, Rose Michelli Spitale Michael, Virginia Michelli Pecoraro; grandson, Michael Scott Lamana; and great grandsons, Michael and Nicholas Carter. Visiting will be Thursday, August 1, 2013 at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government Street from 5:30 pm until 8:30 pm with recitation of the rosary at 6:30 pm. Visiting will continue Friday, August 2, 2013 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2025 Stuart Avenue from 9:30 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Joe and Ricky Michelli, Leonard Cambio, Trey Wolf, Sam Barton and Brandon Chatelain. Honorary pallbearers will be Drs. Michael Rolfsen, and Norman J. Deumite, Eric Anderson, Brant Hardy, Knights of Columbus 3743 Council Members, Tracy Bryant and Ronald Cambio. Many thanks to Drs. Rolfsen and Deumite and to Amedisys Home Health and Hospice Services for their excellent care and comfort during Sam's final days. In lieu of flowers, Sam has requested that donations be made to a scholarship fund in his grandson's name, Lt. Michael Scott Lamana who was killed at the Pentagon on 9/11/0l.
