May 3, 1939 – June 21, 2025
With deep sorrow and eternal love, we announce the passing of Sáng Thánh Nguyen, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, who returned to God’s embrace on June 21, 2025, at the age of 86.
Born on May 3, 1939, in Vietnam, Sáng was a man of unwavering faith, humility, and sacrifice. He served his country bravely during the war for many years before making the courageous decision to leave Vietnam in pursuit of a better life for his family—a bold act of love that allowed his children and grandchildren to live with freedom, opportunity, and hope. He worked tirelessly, always putting his family first, and loved them with his whole heart until his final day.
He was a strong man, yet a gentle and loving father—grounded in his values and a calm, loving presence for his children. His strength gave his family security, and his kindness gave them comfort. With faith and devoted love, he raised his family in a way that continues to shape generations. He was deeply respected by all who knew him, and he returned that same respect to his children—honoring them as they grew into adults and parents themselves. His children now raise their own families with the same compassion, discipline, faith, and unconditional love that he poured into them.
A devoted follower of Jesus and a man who held the Catholic Church in high regard, Sáng lived a life rooted in service, kindness, and grace. After retiring, he found profound joy and purpose in raising and nurturing his grandchildren—his pride and joy—passing on his wisdom, warmth, humor, and selflessness. They will forever cherish the memory of his playful spirit and gentle laughter, the silly joy he brought that made every moment brighter.
Sáng was a man who found beauty in life’s simple pleasures. He cherished quiet mornings with his coffee, peaceful days spent fishing or tending his garden, and joyful Sundays spent surrounded by his family. His smile and laughter lit up every room he entered. He was silly, witty, and full of life—always knowing just how to bring joy and laughter to those around him.
He was the first to lend a helping hand, the last to seek recognition, and a constant source of strength and love for everyone who knew him. His absence is deafening— a silence felt deeply by those who love him, and the void he leaves behind is immeasurable. Yet, his beautiful spirit continues to live on in the hearts of his children and twelve adoring grandchildren—his lasting legacy of love, faith, and resilience.
He is lovingly survived by:
His beloved wife, Canh Nguyen
Children: Tam Nguyen (Nga “Tiffany” Nguyen), Tuyet “Katie” Nguyen (The Tran), Trinh “Steve” Nguyen (Oanh “Haylie” Mac), Vuong “Evon” Nguyen, Lethu Nguyen (Joseph Nguyen), Garland Nguyen (Nhu Nguyen)
Grandchildren: Annie Trinh, Tiana Nguyen, Nathan Trinh, Austin Nguyen, Helena Nguyen, Andy Nguyen, Kaylyn Nguyen, Leon Nguyen, Arla Nguyen, Elliot Nguyen, Charlie Nguyen, and Atlas Nguyen
Though our hearts ache in his absence, we take comfort in knowing he is now at peace in the arms of Jesus. His love surrounds us always, and his presence lives on in every act of kindness, every shared laughter, and every cherished memory.
