Shelley Lloyd Brown, Sr., native of Utica, MS and longtime resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at the age of 84. Shelley was a graduate of Utica High School and began his career as a Conductor with Illinois Central Gulf Railroad for 43 years. He was a member of University Baptist Church and Big R Railroad Retirement Club.
Shelley is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Peggy Mann Brown; daughter, Lori Brown Squyres; sons, Richard Byrd (Stacie), Michael Byrd (Candice), and Curtis Devery Brown (Hiromi); 14 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Robbie Moore Brown; son, Shelley L. Brown, Jr.; brother, Bill Brown; and sister, Mary Thomassie.
Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, on Friday, February 4, 2022 from 12 pm until funeral service at 2 pm. Burial will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
