A lifelong resident of Baton Rouge/Baker, Shirley passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at the age of 87. After graduating from Baker High School, she worked briefly in banking and then went to work as a Budget Officer with the Louisiana Department of Transportation for over 30 years. Shirley then began her second career at Rabenhorst Funeral Home where she worked for over 20 years before her official retirement.
She loved to cook, work in her flower beds, and spending time with her family, but her grandchildren were the light of her life. Last year she welcomed her first great-grandchild and cherished every second she spent with him. Our Mom always sacrificed her needs for the good of her family and we are at peace knowing that she has been reunited with our Dad, the love of her life.
She is survived by her children; Scott Comeaux (Jill) of Zachary, LA, Jodi Comeaux Marvin (Schuyler) of Minden, LA, Kyle Comeaux (Wendy) of Central, LA; grandchildren, Sam Marvin, Peyton Comeaux, Kate Marvin, Kylie Comeaux, and Camille Marvin; great-grandson, Jackson Blake Marvin; brothers, Butch Caston (Marlene) of Cleveland MS and Sidney Caston (Linda) of Spanish Fort, AL; sister-in-law, Wanda Caston of Baton Rouge, LA, Jessie Matherne (Louis) of New Roads, LA; and brother-in-law, Guy Comeaux (Blaire) of Houston, TX.
Visitation will be on Friday, September 29, 2023 at Brownfields Baptist Church (11998 Plank Rd, Baton Rouge, LA 70811) from 11:00 am until the Funeral Service at 1:00 pm officiated by Rev. Kyle Comeaux and Rev. Steve Bridges. Burial will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Shirley's name to Mary's House of Bread (11998 Plank Rd., Baton Rouge, LA 70811) to help those less fortunate.
