Living my life on earth has ended. My Loving Jesus has called me to be with Him in Heaven. I have lived a wonderful life here doing the things I love to do: Praying the Rosary, Praying for others, going to Mass, belonging to the Catholic Daughters, cooking spaghetti, making St. Joseph Cookies for our family altar, and playing Texas Hold-em on Saturday night with my children, grandchildren, and very special friends for two dollars because more than that would be gambling. I will always remember the joy, laughter, and smiles we all shared. Taking with me also the treasured memories of my family with nieces and nephews that I hold in my heart. So please dry all your eyes and remember me for the love and good times we had together.
I was a born in Plaquemine, Louisiana, on August 31, 1929, though I was a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge. I was called to my Heavenly home on March 21, 2023 at the age of 93. You can come to say your last goodbye on April 3 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church from 9:30 to 11 am. My celebration of Mass will follow with Father Mike, then after my special blessing I will be laid to rest at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
I am leaving behind two daughters, Christine Barbay and Mary Carmona, of Baton Rouge; two wonderful sons-in-law, Curtis Barbay and Pete Carmona; four beautiful grandchildren, Tammy Pinsonat, Mark Barbay, Beth Brewster, and Belinda Carmona; two great grand babies, Destiny and Kane; my caring and loving godchildren, Robert Pollage, Joseph Grant, Billy, Audy, Rose and Frank Bourgeois, Debbie Stewart, Maria Toups, Shirley Lilly, Victor Calvaruso; my wonderful eleven nieces and nephews, and lots of great nieces and great nephews that I love dearly. The many people in my life who were so special are my friends and all church friends, who prayed for me and cared for me. A big thanks to a very special friend, Gloria Jones, who my family will always cherish. I would also like to thank the staff and caregivers at PinNacle Home Health and St. Joseph Hospice.
I was preceded in death by my husband Frank Calvaruso; parents, Frank and Mary Pollage; brother, Vick Pollage, and his wife Ida Mae; sister, Mary Grant and her husband, Marshall Grant; sister, Angelina Bourgeois and her husband Billy Bourgeois; brother, Joseph Pollage and his wife Evala, "Boo"; three nephews, Dell Pollage, Jody Pollage, and Anthony Grant; and a great niece, Dana Grant; a very special aunt, Agnes Colletti; and many other loving aunts and uncles.
