
Thelma Freeman passed away Monday, Sept. 26, 2011, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice. Thelma was 90 years young, a native of Sebring, Fla., and a resident of Baton Rouge. She loved her family very much. Thelma was a friend to all who knew her. She had a great sense of humor and became a big LSU baseball fan. She was the wife of the late James Roy Freeman for 41 years, who was the love of her life. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Merri and Lynn Alessi, Baton Rouge, and Sandra and Tim Watterson, Maumelle, Ark; six grandchildren, Steven Watterson and wife Sami, Baton Rouge, Krista Brown and husband Aaron, Little Rock, Ark., Debbie Glass, St. Louis, Mo., Jeff Holy and wife Aimee, Seattle, Jill Luthenaeur and husband Steve, St. Louis, and Jonathan Alessi, Baton Rouge; 11 great-grandchildren, Robert, Emma, Zachary, Stephen, Brayden, Holly, Kayla, Owen, Drew, Cooper and Kei; and two great-great-grandchildren, Dylan and Landon. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cindy; parents, Missouri and Forest Crews; sister, Evelyn Pitcher; and brother, Forest Crews. Visiting at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Thursday, Sept. 29, from noon until service at 2 p.m. Interment in Bougainvillea Cemetery, Avon Park, Fla. The family wished to express special thanks to a very special person in Thelma's life, Carla Brown. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Woman's Hospital, The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice or Cancer Society of America.
