Thomas Adams, a native of Mississippi and resident of Baton Rouge, joined his beloved wife of 64 years, Carolyn, in the presence of their Heavenly Father on Friday, January 30, 2015 at the age of 86. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend. In 1945, Tommy joined the Navy and served aboard the cruiser, USS St. Paul for two years. He later worked as a senior service manager for Addressograph Multigraph, Inc. in Baton Rouge until he retired. He loved his God, his family, his country and enjoyed many interests. He liked to bowl, was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed hunting. Music was an important part of his life. His favorites were from the Big Band Era and he was accomplished at playing the piano, especially the Boogie Woogie and other standards of this time. His mother influenced his love of cars. This obsession he gladly passed on to his grandson, Kelly, and two great-grandsons. Kade and Carter could always put a smile on his face. Tommy was very mechanically inclined. During his retirement, he became known as “Mr. Fix-it” to his neighbors and friends. He could often be found working on someone’s car, a neighbor’s lawn equipment or just putting air in a child’s flat bicycle tire. For these reasons, his caring manner and his quick sense of humor, he will greatly be missed. He is survived by his only daughter, Lynn Boyt of Denham Springs; granddaughter, Jennifer Boyt-Philips and husband, Chris; grandson, Kelly Boyt and wife, Melissa; grandsons, Kade and Carter Boyt, all of Watson. In addition, he is also survived by a granddaughter Jessica Hines and husband, John of Mississippi and several nieces and nephews in California. Thomas is preceded in death by his adoptive parents, Joe and Myrtle Adams, his only son Thomas Michael Adams, biological brother, Kenneth Dail and adopted brother, David Adams. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Sunday, Febuary 1, 2015 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Visitation will continue at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 445 Marquette Avenue on Monday, February 2, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow on the grounds of Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers honoring are Kelly Boyt, Chris Philips, Joe Stephenson, Lance Vinning, John Bauman, and Ernest Voth.
