
A native and resident of Baton Rouge, he passed away Saturday, May 12, 2007, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center after a brief illness. He was 91 and a retiree of the state Department of Revenue and Taxation. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a Mason. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Monday, May 14, from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 445 Marquette Ave., on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., concelebrated by the Rev. Miles Walsh, the Rev. Vic Messina and the Rev. Cleo Milano. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. He is survived by his children, Murwyne Politz, Thomas Murphy Stogner II, Patricia Politz and her husband, J.R. "Bubba" Politz, and Jeanne Scallan and her husband, Adrian Scallan, all of Baton Rouge; 11 grandchildren, John Politz of Austin, Texas, Douglas Politz of Tampa, Fla., David Politz of St. Francisville, Laura Martin of New Roads, Jason Politz of Birmingham, Ala., Shawn Simmons of Baton Rouge, Scott Politz of Metairie, Marcus Politz of Prairieville, and David Stogner, Kimberly Scallan and Joshua Scallan, all of Baton Rouge; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Judson "J.T." Stogner and his wife, Annette, and Terry Lynn Stogner and his wife, Gerri, all of Franklinton; and a sister, Ada Jane Stogner of Franklinton. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Winsome Mae Broussard Stogner; father, Thomas Warren Stogner; mother, Frances Jane Jenkins; stepmother, Lela Lue Stogner; sister, Ruby Gandy; and two brothers, Lawrence Edward Stogner and Warren Stogner.
